Unit 2 Evaluation of Wednesdays photos

Unit 2 evaluation:
For me this photograph caught my attention because it stood out and i liked the look of the main subject which is the car, this photo doesn't really have much beauty to it but the car does stand out from the rest of the picture and for me that's a good aspect of the photo. the subject hardly has any shadows surrounding it, this is due to the natural light that was used and the angle at which it was taken. the compositional area of this photo means that the black car which is placed at the front stands out more meaning its a clearer and more focused picture. the concept of the picture was colour(the same for every other picture) and the 2 different colour groups RGB and CMYK, the car fell into the CMYK colour group so that's why i took it.

The Yellow Land Rover toy car was pictured for the colour groups and i felt it made a cool picture as with the background and the rest of the picture the colours are quite plain so the colour of this specific car stands out. Personally i think the image inspired me through its use of bright colours in a dark coloured background. the depth of field in the photo stands out quite a bit as the background and surrounding areas of the car are blurred slightly making the car stand out more and make it seem a clearer shot. the lighting within the image was created by natural light coming from a window from the left of the photo thus creating a slight shadow on the right side of the car. the picture shows the car in a central position which focuses the view on the subject more.
This black plug is quite a simple but interesting photograph and the lighting really shows of the detail and the dust etc on the plug, the flash on the camera is responsible for that and at which the angle the photo was taken meant that there was many shadows created, the black colour of the plug stands out lots as its on a white socket therefore it stands out more.i chose this photo over other ones because the flash worked really well and it showed the detail really well.

I like this picture of the red car, it is a simple but effective picture, the green background and side, works well with the red as they complement each other. so that brings out the red more and the car then stands out from the rest of the the picture. the main subject is obviously the car as it is the nearest and most focused, the car is pictured central to give the viewer the main focus on it. the natural light outside and the way the picture was taken means there are minimal shadows near the subject.

The subject of this picture is a crystal, this picture works well because of the artificial light from the flash on the camera makes the crystals shine and brings out the light blue well. the flash also means that the foreground is light and the background is shadowed giving more emphasis on the crystal. the blue stands out lots because of the colour of the floor and the colour of the wood and wall, i chose this picture because of the bright blue colours and how they worked well for the task, the crystal is at a slight angle meaning that you get a slight shadow which to me adds effect on the object, i think the aesthetics of the photo are very good and the actual crystal looks very pretty because of how the light makes the crystals shine.

Personally i don't really like this photo, i feel that the angle at which it was shot means that the light from the window makes some of the toy car unable to be seen because of the light shining of it. I feel that the picture isn't a very clear shot and its just quite a plain picture, if i could retake or redo the idea i would. The light coming through the window and the shadow would suggest that the sun wasn't completely above it as the is a slight shadow. The green from the car stands out but i feel it could stand out more with a contrasting colour.

This is my favourite of all the photos, the angle at which it was shot really makes the tennis ball stand out and the depth of field blurs the background slightly bringing the tennis ball out even more. i used the duotone technique on photoshop to create the green colour of the photo, i used this technique because it is very effective and brings out the green even more. This software was easy to use and very effective, the lighting within the image was created by natural light from the sun through a window, thus creating a slight shadow at the right side of the ball. The ball is very focused and the quality of the picture is great, the quality of the photo shows the detail of the ball well. The main subject being the tennis ball just stands out from the rest and makes it look so much bigger than it actually is, the light from the sun on the left of the ball contrast well with the blackness in the background bringing the ball and the green colour out even more.
